With over 30 years of experience in health and fitness, Michael, formerly a Physical Therapist, brings a unique perspective to every Yoga class he teaches. His daily practice and his grasp of the principles of Yoga, breath work, meditation, postures, body mechanics, and alignment allows him to communicate the physical, emotional, and mental benefits of Yoga to students of all ages and levels.
Adept at several styles of Yoga, Michael focuses on Yin Yoga for Terpsicorps dancers. Yin Yoga, which incorporates staying in poses between 3 and 8 minutes, is designed to release connective tissue and fascia, improving flexibility, joint health, circulation, and life force, also known as Chi or Prana. These classes provide the balance and tools dancers need to overcome holding patterns and prevent injuries, which ensures a healthy season and long-term career.
In addition, Michael’s classes teach dancers how to be aware of their body relative to the space around them, increased focus and concentration, and relaxation and centering techniques they can use in life, at school, and before dance performances and auditions.
